Pioneer Of Ireton Dies
Mrs.Jennie Ketman Carpenter,95,a pioneer resident of Ireton, died Saturday at an Odebolt nursing home.
Jennie Ketman was born August 15, 1866, at Humboldt,Iowa . On Oct. 6, 1886, she married Edward Clark Carpenter and they settled in Ireton where he operated a jewelry store for many years.
She was a member of the Methodist church, the W.S.C.S., the Rebekah lodge, and a long time member of the W.C.T U. She was an early day superintendent of the Northwest Iowa District of Missions.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edna Brabender of Le Mars and Dorotha Langle of Odebolt; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Morris.
Funeral services were held at 2:20 Tuesday at the Methodist church, Rev. Fritz Springis officiating. The Satterlee Funeral home was in charge of arrangement. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
