Funeral services for Ben Hamersma,50, longtime trucker and farmer in this area who died last Thursday at a Sioux City hospital after, an illness of three weeks, were held at 2 o'clock Monday at the Barnard Funeral home, Pastor Norval Wigtil officiated with burial in Grace Hill cemetery.

Mr. Hamersma was born February 6, 1914 in the Netherlands. He came to the United States as a child. On December 4, 1953 he married Clara Dowdey at Luverne, Minn.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Hester of Heber, Calif.; three stepchildren; four sisters, Mrs. H.L. Shriver of Tyler, Minn., Mrs. Donald Reitsma of Fairmont, Minn., Mrs. George Richeson of Minneapolis and Mrs. Russell Blumstein of Alcester; six brothers, John of Henkly, Minn., Henry of Florence, Minn., Frank of Beresford, Clarence of Alcester and Martin and Albert both of Hawarden, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Tony Hamersma an infant brother.
