Funeral services for Ernest M. Bancroft,84, who died Saturday at a Hawarden nursing home, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Barnard-Dow Funeral home. Dr.G.S. Bruland of the First Methodist church officiated and burial was in Grace Hill cemetery.

Mr. Bancroft had been a patient at the nursing home about a year. He was born Feburary 24, 1882 at Lodi, SD. and came to Hawarden in 1891. He married Millie Cox January 24, 1906, at Hawarden and farmed for several years before going into the ice business. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1957. Mrs. Bancroft died in 1964.

Survivors include one brother, William of Jackson, Minn.; and three sisters, Mrs. Alma Mullen of Vermillion, SD., Mrs. Lottie Shorts of Redwood Falls, Minn.,and Mrs. Irl West of Elkhart,Iowa.
