Richard H. Cambier, 87, of Alton, passed away Thursday, April 3 at the Orange City Municipal Nursing Home.

Richard Henry Cambier was born June 12, 1898 hear Alton, the son of Jacob Cambier and Dena Scholten Cambier. On February 16, 1921 he married Jeanette Riedeman at Alton. In 1929 they moved to a farm east of Alton. "Rich" semi-retired in 1973 when his daughter and son-in-law joined them on the farm. Since November of 1984, both Mr. and Mrs. Cambier have been residents of the Orange City Municipal Nursing Home.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Alton where he had been an elder and served on various church boards.

Survivors include his wife "Jen"; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Templeton of Alton; two sisters, Mrs. C. E. (Gladys) Swanson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Ray (Lillian) Van Wechel of Vinton; brother, Orville of Clarion, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cambier was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Josephine Newton, William J., Sue Dildine, Clinton, and Franklin "Butch"; and son-in-law, Floyd Templeton.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5 at the United Presbyterian Church of Alton. The Revs. Carol B. Gailey, Henry G. Eggink and Robert Vander Schaaf officiated. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
