Mrs. Ray Cambier
Funeral services are being held this morning, Thursday, for Virginia Hagert Cambier who died Monday [Aug. 9] after a five year battle against cancer. Mrs. Cambier was 37.
Virginia was born September 10, 1933 near Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Her mother died when she was three and she was placed in the St. Anthony's orphanage, Sioux City, where she lived until she was 12. At the age of 12, she moved to Remsen where she lived with Joe, Albert and Clara Gossling until she was 17 when she began attendance in Briar Cliff college. May 21, 1956 she and Ray Cambier were married. Ginny lived in Alton the rest of her life.
She was active in Sioux Golf and Country Club, holding the position of women's president for a year, and in area Red Cross work. She helped start a Bluebird troop in Alton. She was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Cambier attended Briar Cliff for two years then qualified for her bachelor's degree during summer schools in Westmar and Northwestern colleges. She substitute taught in St. Mary's grammar school in Alton.
Mrs. Cambier is survived by her husband, Ray, four children: Suzanne, 12, Kurt, 10, Jeanne, 7, and Carla, 2; two brothers, Donald Hagert of eastern Iowa and Virgil Hagert of Greeley, Colorado; two sisters, Jeanette Howcroft and Rita Moorehead, both of Greeley. Rosary was held Wednesday night in the St. Mary's parish center. Funeral rites are in St. Mary's church, Alton. Arrangements in the hands of Van Etten Funeral home.

Services Set for Mrs. Ray Cambier
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) for Mrs. Ray Cambier, 37, of Alton. Rosary services were held Wednesday. Virginia Hagert Cambier was born Sept. 10, 1933 at Wabsco, Minn., married to Ray Cambier on May 21, 1956. Mrs. Cambier died at the Orange City hospital on August 9, after an illness of cancer for the last six years.
She is survived by her husband; four children, Suzanne, 12, Kurt, 10, Jeanne, 7 and Karla, 2; sisters, Rita Moorhead and Jeannette Howcroft of Greely[sic], Colo.; brothers Virgil, Greeley, Colo., Jerry, Minneapolis, Minn., Harry, Remsen and Donald; her aunt, Clara Gossling of Remsen who had raised her.
Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church with Rev. Father Boes at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Val Plagge, Jack Harriman, Norlyn Vande Brake, Case Van Roekel, Bob Ver Heul and Arlen Sandbulte. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Alton under the Van Etten Funeral Home.
