Funeral Services Held Saturday for John Stotz,93

John Stotz a former resident of Chatsworth and more recently of the Panska Nursing home in Hawarden, died last Wednesday at the age of 93 at an Iowa City hospital where he was taken after falling and breaking his hip November 10.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Clemens Funeral home at Armour, SD., with Rev. Luther A. Meyer of the Chatsworth Lutheran church officiating.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stotz, he was born in Neiburg, Russia, February 17, 1868, where he was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the age of 14 and where he obtained his education in the local school. He grew to manhood in Russia where he married Kathrine Neu in 1893. The next year they came to America and settled in South Dakota, first at Menno for two years and then at Bridgewater. They then moved to Charles Mix county where they farmed for 35 years.

Mrs. Stotz died December 7, 1930, at the farm north of Lake Andes and 13 miles southwest of Armour. Mr. Stotz farmed in the Lake Andes area until 1938 when he went to the Elk Point area. For a while he resided in the Albany, Ore., vicinity, but retired to Chatsworth in the early 1950's. A few years ago he moved to the Panska home.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martha Steele of Mitchell, SD., and Mrs. August Myears of Lake Andes; five sons, John of Elk Point, Ed and Albin of Albany and Jake and Fred of Akron; 41 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren
