Henry Bruxvoort, 81, of Orange City died Wednesday, August 16, at an Orange City hospital. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 18, at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with burial in West Lawn Cemetery. Henry Bruxvoort, age 81, of Orange City, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16 in the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Mr. Bruxvoort was born Sept. 22, 1907 at Crookston, Minn., the son of Herman Bruxvoort and Johanna (Meinders) Bruxvoort. About 1927 he moved to the Orange City area with his family. On March 3, 1935 he married Bertha Ter Horst at Orange City. They farmed at Orange City until 1969 when they retired into town. Henry continued to work part-time for several years. Mr. Bruxvoort was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City where he had served as an elder on the consistory and as a Sunday School teacher. He also belonged to the Men;s Society of the church. Henry will be remembered for his willingness to help others.Survivors include his wife; three children, Dr. Harold and Elizabeth of Jenison, Mich., Janice and James Roelofs of Rock Valley and the Rev Carl and Kathy of McBain, Mich.;eight grandchildren, one great-grandaughter; eight brothers and sisters, Tim and Elsie of Cutlerville, Mich., Effie Bremer of Hudsonville, Mich., Gerrit and Ollie of Orange City, Anne and Clarence Van Kalsbeek of Hospers, Brant and Dorothy of Sheldon, John and Martha of Luverne, Minn., Clarence and Minerva of Pella and Hermina and Roy Bloemendaal of Orange City; and a sister-in-law, Verda of Visalia, Calif.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and an infant also named Gilbert, and two sisters, Jeanette and Elizabeth LeFleur. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 18 at the First Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. .Ralph A. Ponder officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home ofOrange City.Source: Capital-Democrat of of Aug 2, 1989
