BRUCE BROWN PASSES AWAY
Five year Old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Brown Died Monday
Bruce, the five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Brown, died Monday morning at 10:30 of influenza and complications following and illness of about a week's duration. During the first few days of his illness, Bruce seemed to get better for a short time and then worse and then better again. This kept on until Sunday night when he gew violently ill about midnight. Previous to that time he had been under a doctor's care and the physician was called again but nothing could be done to check the disease. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.A. Winterstein. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery.
Bruce Bennett Brown was born March 15, 1916, at Laurens, Iowa, and died Aug 1, 1921, at the age of 5 years, 4 months and 16 days. He moved with his parents to Hawarden in the winter of 1920, when his father took a position as operator at the Northwestern depot. Besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters, Wilma, Norma, Dorothy, Lois and Jean, and one brother, Robert. The Independent extends deepest sympathy to the stricken parents, brother and sisters in this great loss. Those in attendance at the funeral from ouside the city were: William Brown, a brother of Mr. Brown, and Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Bennett, grandparentts of the deceased of Peterson, Iowa: Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Bennett of Morningside, uncle and aunt of the deceased; and Mrs. Roy Inness of Sutherland, an aunt of the deceased.
