Herman Stores, Former Hawarden Resident, Dies

Funeral services for Herman Stores, 75, who was born and raised in Hawarden were held on September 11 at the Russell-Gooch Funeral home at Mill Valley, Calif., with burial at Presidio National cemetery.

Mr. Stores died September 6 after a series of heart attacks, having been ailing for the past five years.

He was born in Hawarden August 31, 1886, a son of Mr. and Mrs.A.D. Stores. He grew to manhood and married Florence Marshall here on February 2, 1928. The couple lived in Hawarden until 1930 when they moved to Morehead, Minn. In 1942 they moved to San Francisco where he retired in 1848 because of a heart condition

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Elrod of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Joyce Elrod of San Francisco; three sons Leland R. and L Arlen, both of San Francisco and Paul W., who is serving with the Navy in Japan; a sister, Mrs. Julia Reed of Slayton, Minn., and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bob Stores
