Bertha Bruxvoort, 89, of Orange City died Saturday, January 29, at Orange City Municipal Hospital Long Term Care Facility. Services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Timothy Ouwinga officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Bruxvoort was born December 1, 1910, in Orange City, the daughter of Gerrit and Clara (De Vries) Ter Horst. She was raised on a farm near Orange City and attended Orange City Christian School. She married Henry Bruxvoort on March 3, 1935, in Orange City. The couple farmed near Orange City until 1969, when they retired and moved into Orange City. He died August 16, 1989, in Orange City. She entered Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City in February 1993. She entered the Long Term Care Facility in September 1996.She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and Faith, Hope and Love Society. She was an organist at the church for 34 years and gave piano lessons for 40 years. She enjoyed needlework, quilting, reading and crossword puzzles.Survivors include two sons and their wives, Dr. Harold J. and Elizabeth of Jenison, Michigan, and the Rev. Carl H. and Kathy of Muskegon, Michigan; a daughter and her husband, Janice C. and James Roelofs of Rock Valley; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Etta Vander Zwaag of Orange City and Clareen Van Den Berg of Midland Park, New Jersey.She was preceded in death by two brothers,John William and Bert Ter Horst; and four sisters, Johanna Sandbulte, Minnie Ter Horst, Arta Gesink and Leona Heynen.
