Hawarden, Iowa- Luella Martha Marie Wilkison, 95, of Hawarden, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center.Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Luella Martha Marie Wilkison was born June 28, 1915 in Hawarden, Iowa to Gerret and Gertrude (Frerichs) Eilers. She was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Plymouth County and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden in 1930. After graduating from the Hawarden High School she taught in a country school south of Hawarden. Luella married John Wilkison November 16, 1936. She and John owned and operated many businesses in Hawarden; the last was John's Place restaurant for 24 years. After retirement they spent the winters in Texas.She loved to travel and loved all sports, including bowling, golf, fishing, and shuffle board and was a Cubs and Braves Baseball fan. Survivors include one son, Gary and wife Jeannine of Hawarden; one daughter, Joann and husband Jack Breslin of Pinehurst, North Carolina; 3 grandchildren, Tomiko Wilkerson and husband Wayne, Lisa Klemme and husband Jeff, and Michael Wilkison and wife Carrie; 6 great-grandchildren, Haley Wilkerson, Olivia, Hannah, and Sam Klemme, and Gavin and Ella Wilkison; and many nephews and nieces.Luella was preceded in death by her husband John on February 24, 1992; and 5 brothers and 1 sister, George, Fred, and Edna in infancy and Ernest, Clarence, and Earl.
