Obituary: Ireton, Iowa- Jesse Westergard, 88, of California, formerly of Ireton, Iowa died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 in Stockton, California.Private family graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Military service will be provided by the Ireton American Legion Bertram Post #276.The Porter Funeral Home of Ireton is assisting the family. Jesse Westergard was born November 3, 1921 the son of Chris and Anna (Heuer) Westergard. He married Betty Jackson January 20, 1947 in Ireton. They farmed in the Ireton, Iowa area until the death of their son Mike, who was killed in November of 1968. They transferred with Swift & Co. to Stockton, California and Jesse later worked for the City of Stockton until his retirement. Betty died August 14, 1982. Jesse is survived by his daughter, Katherine A. Still and her husband Gary of California; sister, Wilma Liston; 2 grandchildren who loved their grandfather very much, Pamela L. Lee and husband Mark and Brian L. Still and wife Virginia; 3 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Justin, and Jared Still; and many nephews and nieces.Jess was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers, Mildred, Lillian, Viola, Fred, Albert, and Lawrence at the age of 7.
