MRS. HENRY FRANKE DIES AT IRETON AT THE AGE OF 74

Ireton, Ia.--Mrs. Henry Franke, 74, died last Thursday [Feb. 21] following a long illness.

Lydia Siege was born May 9, 1877, at Stanwood, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Siege. In the year 1890 she came with her parents to live on a farm near Maurice. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran church near Ireton in 1892. On Feb. 14, 1901, she married Henry Franke and to this union two sons were born. She was a charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran Ladies Aid.

She and her husband farmed northeast of Ireton continually until 14 years ago when they went into semi-retirement. She enjoyed good health through all these years until about five years ago. She suffered light strokes in 1950 and 1951 which deprived her of her ability to walk.

Survivors include: her husband; two sons, Elmer and Orin; five grandchildren; one brother, Henry Siege of Maurice; and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Schwier of Sioux City, Mrs. Lena Mueller of Maurice and Mrs. Anna Henry of Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church on Feb. 25 with Rev. W. Houser officiating. Burial was made in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery at Ireton.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Neiman, Guttenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Will Harnish of Nashua, Herman Lehrman of Stanwood, Mrs. Henry Hassemeyer, Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Lehrman of Stanwood, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Backes of Granville, Mr. and Mrs. Al Beyers, Norcross, Minn., Kenneth Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ferris, Norcross, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Doesdal of Hancock, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Johnston of Latimer and Arthur Johnston of Omaha, Neb.
