William Tilstra. 46, of Hawarden, died Sunday (March 3, 1991), at a Sioux Falls hospital after a five month illness.

Services were held Wednesday at the Associated Church in Hawarden. Rev. Doug McMelberg officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Tilstra was born March 13, 1944, in Doon, Ia., son of Dick and Criesena (Van Beek) Tilstra. He grew up in Canton, S.D., Inwood, Ia. area. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction, and lived in Kansas City and later in California. He returned to Hawarden, where he worked at the Iowa Lamb Plant for five years.

Survivors include his parents of Hawarden; two sons, Billy Gene and his wife, Lesa of Castaic, Calif., and Christopher Lee of Hawarden; two daughters, Teresa, stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., and Michele, stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Carol of Hawarden, and Ronald and Sally of Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight
sisters, Agnes Teach of Canton, S.D., Geraldine Ragels, Mrs. Lawrence (Dianna) List on, Mrs. Lenny (Rosella) Van Muyden and Mrs. John (Joann) Degan, all of Hawarden, Mrs. William (Connie) Satter of Chats worth, Mrs. Kenny (Loretta) Hillrichs of Akron, and Mrs. Harve (Delores) Voetberg of Rock Valley) two grandchildren, Michelle and Eric Tilstra of Castaic; and his companion, Kathl Boldenow of Hawarden.
