GAS FUMES CAUSE DEATH
Brother of Hawarden Man Found Dead in Sioux City Monday

George Gant, 43, a barber in Sioux City, passed away Monday [April 2] by inhaling illuminating gas in his barber shop at 1405 Dace Avenue. His death was accidental. Mr. Gant was found lying on the floor in the back of his shop by Nick Ghida when he entered the room to look for Mr. Gant. Ghida detected the odor of gas and on investigating discovered that fumes were escaping from a small hot water heater.

The deceased was born at Westfield and he lived there many years but four years ago he went to Sioux City where he engaged in the barber business. Mr. Gant was employed as a barber in this city for a time four or five years ago.

He is survived by his father, Patrick Gant of Westfield, five brothers, S. A. Gant, W. B. Gant and L. V. Gant of Westfield, E. J. Gant of Sioux City and T. B. Gant of Hawarden, and four sisters, Sister Mary Wilfred of Clinton, Mrs. James Cahill of Kalona, Iowa, Mrs. R. M. Kirby of Minneapolis and Mrs. Cecil McGruder of LeMars.

Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock this morning in St. Joseph's Catholic church in Akron, with Rev. Fr. Rohrer officiating.
