RICHARD F. GANT

Richard (Dick) F. Gant, 68, of San Ramon, CA, died suddenly Sunday, December 31, in a San Francisco hospital following a heart attack.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thurs., Jan. 4, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church at San Ramon. Monsignor Mullen delivered the eulogy. Interment was at Oakland Memorial Park.

Mr. Gant was born March 24, 1927 at Westfield, IA, to Tom and Ruth (Kineleyside) Gant. The family moved to Hawarden in 1929. Mr. Gant attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Hawarden High School in 1944. After graduation from high school he served in the U.S. Navy. In 1947 he married Gwen Wood of Hawarden. He graduated from Northern Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls.

The Gant family moved to Costa County in California in 1969. They resided in Danville, Walnut Creek and San Ramon, where Mr. Gant was a real estate broker for over 25 years.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Gant of Hawarden; his wife, Gwen of San Ramon; four sons, Craig of Houston, TX, Woody of Manteca, CA, Tracy of Concord, CA, and Shawn of Houston, TX; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
