STEVE CAMPAGNE DIES FRIDAY IN COUNTY HOME

Funeral services were held Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the Vander Ploeg Funeral home at Sioux Center for Steve Campagne, 92, who died unexpectedly Friday morning [May 1] at the County Home in Orange City, where he resided since October of 1958. Before that he had made his home with his niece, Grace Kleyn. Rev. B. J. Haan officiated and burial was in the Sioux Center cemetery.

Mr. Campagne was born in Holland in 1867 and has lived in Sioux county since his arrival in the United States in 1892 at the age of 25. He spent most of his life in Sioux Center, where he was in the automobile business and later in blacksmithing. It is thought that he sold the first Chevrolet in Sioux county.

Mr. Campagne was preceded in death by his wife in 1942; a daughter, Hendreka in 1933 and a son, Fred, in 1955. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

STEVE CAMPAGNE, FORMER LOCAL BUSINESSMAN, DIES
Funeral Monday; Burial Here

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday from the Vander Ploeg Funeral home at Sioux Center for Steve Campagne, 92, former Sioux Center businessman, who passed away at the Sioux County home Friday.

Rev. B. J. Haan officiated and burial was made in Sioux Center cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's. Pallbearers were Herman Kruid, Siebert Haverhals, Peter Haverhals, Ray Vander Lugt, Rochus Schelling and Case Kleyn.

Mr. Campagne was born March 31, 1867. He was in business in Sioux Center for many years and also served on the town council.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Stanley Campagne of Maurice, and Stanley Van Vliet, of Sheldon, and eight great grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death in 1942, a son, Fred, in 1955, and a daughter, Hendrika, Mrs. Wm. Van Vliet.

Campagne had made his home in recent years at the Sioux County Home at Orange City. He was the oldest resident there at the time of his passing.
