MARY AHLERS

Mrs. Wm. (Mary) Ahlers, age 88 of Granville, died Monday, Sept. 5 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Granville. Rev. Robert W. Gralapp officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral Home, Remsen.

Mrs. Ahlers was born Jan. 10 [1900?] at Granville to John and Elizabeth (Hebbelman) Schwarz. She was raised and educated in Granville. She married William Ahlers on May 16, 1922 at Granville. They farmed near Granville until retiring in 1960. The couple moved into Granville in January, 1961. Mr. Ahlers died Nov. 27, 1984.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Church Guild and Christian Mothers.

She is survived by a son, Emmett of Granville; four daughters, Florence and Mrs. Ambrose (Lucille) Schumacher, both of Granville; Mrs. Dent (Ruth) Green of Grand Blank [Blanc], Mich., and Mrs. Ray (Clarice) Heller of Milford; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers, John, Joseph and Anton and one sister, Rose Schwarz.
