DICK DE GROOT, SIOUX CENTER, DIES FOLLOWING A STROKE

Dick De Groot, 55 year old Sioux Center farmer, passed away Thursday evening [Oct. 5] after suffering a stroke. He had been in poor health for several months.

Mr. De Groot was born in the Sioux Center vicinity and spent all of his life here. He was married to Jennie De Wit, about 28 years ago, who now survives him, with the three children, Marie (Mrs. Donald Vander Hoef) of Volga, South Dakota; Reuben of Sioux Center; and Priscilla at home. He is further survived by four grandchildren, his aged father, Reurt De Groot and the following brothers and sisters: John and Case, both of Sioux Center; Mrs. John Vander Burg, Sioux Center; Mrs. Peter Balkema, Orange City; Mrs. Tillie Veenclaussen of Watertown, South Dakota; Mrs. Wm. Brower of Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Clarence Bajork of California.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the farm home and at the First Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Bernard Haan officiating, and burial took place at the Sioux Center cemetery.

Here for the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brower of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Tillie Veenclaussen of Watertown, South Dakota; and Mr. Dick Terpstra and sons Frank and Nick of Pella, Iowa. All returned home again the early part of this week.
