DEATH OF AGED LADY
Mrs. M. J. Burke Passes Away Wednesday
Funeral Services Were Held This Afternoon and Interment Will be Made at Miller, S.D.

Mrs. M. J. Burke died at her home in this city about noon Wednesday [March 28] following an illness of several weeks duration. She had been in failing health for the past few years but her condition did not become alarming until within the past few weeks. Her two daughters have been here for several weeks assisting in her care and they were at her bedside when the end came. Brief funeral services were held at the home this afternoon [Thursday], conducted by Rev. Jas. J. Davies, pastor of the M. E. church, and the remains will be taken to Miller, S.D., tonight for interment.

Mary Jane Marshall was born in Poseyville, Ind., June 26, 1842, and at the time of her death had attained the age of 74 years, 9 months and 2 days. On April 15, 1858, when not yet 16 years of age, she was united in marriage with Elijah Talcott. Six children were born to this union, three of whom died in infancy, while one son, Frank Talcott, died about nine years ago. The surviving children are Mrs. M. B. Hickcox of Miller, S.D., and Mrs. N. T. Hickcox of Ree Heights, S.D. Mr. Talcott died many years ago and later she married Mr. Burke, who has also passed on before.

The deceased had made her home in this city for many years. She was a kindly lady, a good neighbor, and her passing will be mourned by a wide circle of friends.
