Kathleen B. "Kay" Rummel, 85, of Hawarden, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1985, at a Hawarden hospital.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden. Rev. Edmund Adams officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral in Hawarden. Pallbearers were Glenn Olson, George Wood, Arlo Kircher, Joe Koob, Bill Salker and Marlo Green.

Mrs. Rummel, the former Kathleen McManaman, was born Sept. 22, 1900, in Hawarden. She graduated from Hawarden High School and attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. She taught in rural schools in Eagle Township prior to her marriage. She married Harry W. Rummel in 1921 at Vermillion, SD, and the couple made their home in Hawarden. Mr. Rummel died in 1933. She owned and operated the Kay-May Dress Shop in Hawarden for many years. She sold the store in the late 1950s and later worked in a clothing store. She lived in Hillcrest Care Center for the past year.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Guild and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Harry W. of Oconomowoc, WI, and Ray L. of Hawarden; a daughter, Mrs. Vincent (Donna) Ryan of Babylon, NY; two sisters, Mrs. Beryl Agnes of Hawarden, and Mrs. Morris (Ardythe) Lynch of Arcadia, CA; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
