Passed Away in California

Miss Hannah Burke, a sister of Mrs. Stephen E. Strong residing southeast of Hawarden, died at St. Catherine's hospital, Santa Monica, Calif., Wednesday, March 31, 1920. She was born in Calamine, Wis., and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Burke, to LeMars in 1883. She attended school in LeMars and taught for some time in the Plymouth county schools. More than eleven years ago, on account of failing health, she went to Las Cruces, New Mex., and later to Ocean Park, Calif. She leaves to mourn her death, her mother, Mrs. Ellen Burke of Sioux City; three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Stephen E. Strong, Hawarden; Mrs. Roy Heighton, Milford, Iowa; Miss Alice and William Burke, Sioux City; Morgan Burke, Minneapolis, and Frank Burke, Waterloo, Iowa.
