Died, at her home, four miles south of here, on Thursday evening of last week, Mrs. Thos. Burke, jr., of pneumonia, aged thirty-two years. The news of the serious illness and a few days thereafter of the sudden taking away of this most estimable lady came as a great and sorrowful shock to her scores of friends in this vicinity. Ten days before her death a fine, healthy boy baby had been born to her, but Mrs. Burke caught a bad cold and contracted pneumonia, and in spite of all two of the most skillful physicians--Dr. Wilson of this place and Dr. Quigley of Hawarden--could do and who had remained at her bedside day and night--in spite of the loving care and the best of nursing she succumbed to the inevitable and on Thursday evening passed to that brighter realm where sorrow and suffering are known no more. She was a loving and beloved wife and mother and was highly respected and esteemed by all who knew her, and she numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She leaves a husband, five children, the oldest but eight years old, and numerous other relatives and scores of friends to mourn her loss. She was laid to rest on Sunday, the funeral services being held in the Catholic church at Hawarden, she being laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at that place. The large number of teams that followed her remains to their last sad resting place attested to the sincere esteem in which the departed one had been held. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved husband and sorrowing relatives and may that higher power send to them the consolation earth cannot give at this their time of deepest grief.
