Sidney LeRoy "Roy" Eisma was born December 19, 1940 at Hawarden, Iowa, son of Sidney and Minnie (Sinkey) Eisma. He attended Ireton Christian Grade School. He was a member of the Ireton Christian Reformed Church. He helped his parents with farming activities on their farm near Ireton. He also worked for many of the area farmers during the harvest seasons. After his dad’s passing in May of 1991, Roy’s duties were then directed to helping his mother who was in a wheelchair. He did numerous errands, too many to mention, but his biggest joy was his daily trips to see his friends in Ireton at Super Stop in the a.m. and p.m. and back for ~chicken" for their evening meal.
Roy’s stroke in 2000 limited some of his activities. His mother moved to the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City in October 2004. His mother died in January 2006. Roy continued on the acreage enjoying his daily trips to Super Stop. Due to declining health, Roy moved to the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City in May 2008 where he was blessed with many more new friends. Roy had a wave and smile for everyone.
He is survived by five siblings, Donald Eisma and wife Kay of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Mary Lou Obbink and husband Harvey of Orange City, Robert Eisma and wife Mary of Ireton, Barbara Dc Kraker and husband Wayne of Caledonia, Michigan, Michael Eisma and wife Lisa of LeMars and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bradley.
