Charles F. Gayer, 87, of Rock Valley died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rock Valley with The Rev. James Demke officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. A prayer service was held at the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Mr. Gayer was born Aug. 19, 1908, south of Rock Valley, the son of Karl "Charlie" and Bertha (Pabbeldt)Gayer. He married Edith Hillmer, Aug. 28, 1934, at Madison, S.D. The couple farmed south of Rock Valley until 1960 when they retired and moved to Rock Valley.

For many years, he was involved with the Sioux County REC Board the Rock Valley Senior Citizens Club and was one of the original owners of the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Lee and Mary Gayer of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Dee and Brad Bauman of South Sioux City; five granddaughters; two great-granddaughters and a great-grandson.
