From excerpts from the Sioux County Herald and the Alton Democrat of Nov 18, 1893.
The Worthington Advance, speaks as follows of the man who murdered Harry Walraven, formerly a citizen of this county: (the articel goes on to the demeanor of a John Layne one person being held for the murder of Harry Walraven)
Harry M. Walraven was murdered in Mankato MN just prior to Sep 6, 1893. He was killed at his home where he was in business. His father was Arie Walraven and his brother was JOhn Walraven.
From the So. Co. Herald of Sep 6, 1893. Set 4, 1893 Harry M. Walraven, propeietor of a sample room and lunch counter on Front Street, was shot and killed in his own dooryard by some unknown persons about 1 o'clock Sunday morning. Being heard by Mrs. and neighbors the assailant was frightened away without personal robbery. Several people were later arrested and charged with the murder that was the result of a money making scheme of which Walraven was about to bring to the attention of the authorities. Mrs. Harry Walraven was not identifies as to her maiden name. Harry was buried in Blue Earth County MN.
