William S. Harker, 70, Hawarden, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1990, in a Sioux City hospital.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m Friday in Porter-Dow funeral home in Hawarden. Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden.

Mr. Harker was born Dec. 12, 1919 in Hawarden, the son of Stewart and Louise (Ericson) Harker. He graduated in 1938 from the Hawarden High School. He married Lois Benson, Nov. 2,1941 in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. air force for 3 1/2 years during World War II. After the service, the couple made their home in Hawarden where he and his sister owned and operated Harker Drug Store. In 1950, they sold the business and he then worked as a finish carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; a son, Steven and his wife, Gayle, of Toronto, Canada; a daughter, Jean of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Rex (Elvina) Truesdell of Hawarden and four grandchildren.
