Mrs. Judith Visser, age 78, of Hull, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, September 14, at 11:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Verlyn Boone will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a prayer service on Tuesday, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the funeral home.

Judith was born on April 23, 1932, in rural Hull, the daughter of Gerrit B. and Sophie (Vander Wilt) Koerselman. She was raised on a farm at Middleburg and graduated from the Hull High School in 1949. She then graduated from the teaching program at the Northwestern College in Orange City and taught in a country school in Welcome Township for a year.

On June 14, 1951, she married John A. Visser in Middleburg. Except for a year in Sanborn, they made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. John passed away on June 14, 2010, in Hull, after exactly 59 years of marriage.

Judy was an active member of the First Reformed Church, where she played the piano and organ and sang in the choir, participated in Reformed Church Women’s Ministries, and taught Sunday school classes. She also assisted with Meals on Wheels, was involved in The Gideons, and volunteered at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Her passion was music, especially in church, and she devoted herself to her husband, family, and friends. Time spent with family and friends was very special to her.

Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Robert and Karen Visser, of Afton, Minnesota; Jay and Jeanne Visser, of Hull; Larry and Pam Visser, of Oakdale, Minnesota; and Laura and Jody Gravedoni, of Omaha, Nebraska; ten grandchildren, Danielle, and her husband, Rick Rickert; Kara Visser; Evan Visser, and his wife, Tamyres; Mark Visser; Jeff Visser; Kim Visser; Megan, and her husband, Bruce Anderson; David Visser; Adam Gravedoni; and Nicholas Gravedoni; a sister and her husband, Muriel and Paul De Groot, of Omaha; and two brothers and their wives, Benjamin and Elaine Koerselman, of Hull; and the Rev. Richard and Faye Koerselman, of Gilbert, Arizona.
