Lornell Gayer, 48, of Inwood died Monday, June 29, in a hospital in Rock Valley of an apparent heart attack.

Services were at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood. The Rev. Robert Bagley officiated. Burial was in Richland Cemetery in Inwood.

Gayer was born November 3, 1938, in Hudson, South Dakota. He graduated from Inwood High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Navy from August 1956 until October, 1959.

He married Mary McCormick June 24, 1961 in Fairview, South Dakota. The couple farmed in the Inwood area.

Gayer was a member of Bergstrom-Bodeen Post, American Legion of Hudson and Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Inwood.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Tracy, and a daughter, Teresa, both at home; and a sister, Sharon Gayer of Inwood.
