Mrs. Seth Allen, an old and respected resident of Maurice, died at her home Tuesday, June 13th. She had been in poor health all spring, but was not considered in a dangerous condition until a short time previous to her death. She was born in New York 55 years ago, first moving to Cleveland and then to western Ohio. In 1890 she came to Sioux County and was a resident of Hawarden for about four years. In 1894 she was married to Seth Allen of Maurice, a veteran of the Civil War, who survives her. She leaves two sons by a former marriage, Clarence and Bert Hart, of Centerville, who were at her bedside when she passed away. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday and the body was then taken to Janesville, Iowa, for burial. Mr. Allen and the sons accompanied the remains.
