Mabel Specht, 76, Hawarden, died Friday (Feb. 2, 1990) in a Sioux Falls hospital.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the American Lutheran church in Hawarden. Pastor Karla J. Kirkeby officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Specht the former Mabel Webb, was born Oct. 2, 1913 in Miner county, S.D. She attended school in Miner County, Chatsworth and the Hawarden high school. She married Bernard (William) Specht, Dec. 24, 1933 at Mitchell, S.D. They lived in Fedora, S.D., Chatsworth and Burbank, Calif. Mr. Specht died in August of 1958, and she returned to Hawarden that fall. She worked for many years as a checkout clerk for the local grocery store.

Survivors Include one daughter, Eva Lynn Specht of Manhatten, Kan.; one brother, James Webb of Auburn, Wash.; three sisters, Hazel Van Pelt, Mitchell, S.D.. Inez Van Velt, Live Oak, Calif., and Mrs. Bernard (Laura) Hendricks, Alcester, two grandsons, John R. Willms, Jr. and James R. Willms, both of Manhattan, Kan.
