SERVICES HELD FOR TOINETTE BALKEMA

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 25, 1971 at the Van Etten Funeral Chapel for Toinette Balkema, 76, who passed away on January 21, 1971 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Miss Balkema had been ill approximately five weeks.

She was born at Newkirk, Iowa on March 31, 1894, the daughter of Albert and Evadine Balkema. Rev. D. Lenderink officiated at the services with burial in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home. Surviving relatives include Peter Balkema, John B. Balkema, Mrs. Kate Wilson, Clarence E. Balkema, Albert Balkema, Jr., Phyllis Mummert, niece, daughter of Evelyn Stroutman, sister.

Miss Balkema was a graduate of the Iowa University School of Nursing and a graduate of Harvard School of Therapy at Boston, Massachusetts and followed this vocation until retirement in 1959.
