Henry William "Heinie" Gebauer, 89, of Hawarden died Tuesday, November 6, at Happy Siesta Nursing Home.
Funeral services were Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden.
Gebauer was born November 16, 1911, in Alton to Wilhelm Henry and Henrietta (Romberg) Gebauer. He left school at age 15 to work as a baker. He married Gladys Alvina Heuer on April 29, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They made their home in Hawarden and moved to Plymouth County in 1937. They farmed there until November 1978 when they retired to Hawarden. He served in the ASCS office in LeMars for 18 years. He also enjoyed selling seed corn, umpiring softball games, fishing, golfing and sharing his children and grandchildren's lives. His wife died December 5, 2000.
Survivors include his children, Larry and Wiltrud of Bailey, Colorado, Marty and Fran of Ireton, Connie and Jim Clementson of Longmont, Colorado, and Jeff and Shay of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Gebauer of Orange City and Willmina Gebauer of LeMars.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Ralph, Bill, Judy and Gus; and three sisters, Ann, Jeanette and Shirley.
