John Koster
Born: June 28, 1912; Hospers, Iowa
Died: February 11, 2003, Orange City, Iowa
Internment: Newkirk Cemetery, Hospers, IowaJohn was the son of Albert and Fannie (Vollink) Koster. He was raised at Hospers, Iowa.
On February 24, 1938, he married Lyda Rensink at Newkirk. They farmed at Hospers for two years and then moved to a farm by Newkirk, where they lived until 1990. They then moved to Orange City and in 1998, became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home.
Mr. Koster was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory at as elder and a deacon and taught Sunday School classes. He was also a member of the boards of directors of the Osceola County Creamery (AMPI), Sioux Rural Electric Cooperative, the Hospers Elevator, and the Newkirk School.
He enjoyed fishing and traveling and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include [Survivors omitted to respect their privacy]He was preceded in death by two sisters, Allie Te Greotenhuis and Tena Koster. Memorials will be directed to the church.
