DEATH OF H. L. STILES

Pioneer Calliope Business Man Passes Away at Jamison, Neb.

H.L. Stiles, for nearly thirty years a resident of Calliope, died Monday morning at his home near Jamison, Neb., after an illness of short duration. He was about 70 years of age. Mr. Stiles will be remembered by all the old timers in this section and had many friends who will learn with sincere regret of his demise. For many years he managed the north side lumber yard, first for Wooster & Milne and later for Schoeneman Bros. Co., until the yard was discontinued about seven years ago, when with his wife he moved to Jamison, Neb., where they have since made their home on a claim. Always straightforward and honest, he made many lasting friendships during his long business career here. On August 17th of last year Mr. and Mrs. Stiles celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter at Hazel, S.D., and later visited in Hawarden for several weeks when they greatly enjoyed the renewal of those friendships of so many years standing. Besides his bereaved wife he leaves to mourn eight grown daughters as follows: Mrs. E. M. Sayles of Faith, S.D., Mrs. S. Scheie of Jamison, Neb., Mrs. G. Z. Satterlee of Medicine Hat, Can., Mrs. John Brunskill of Hawarden, Mrs. S. S. Easthouse of Hazel, S.D., Mrs. J. C. Keating of Humboldt, S.D., Mrs. G. Vosburg of Bottineau, N.D., and Mrs. I. E. McCumber of Burke, S. D. The remains were brought here for burial today and funeral services were held in the Methodist church this afternoon, conducted by Ref. C. H. Young. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery.
