Hawarden, Iowa ---- Emil Lindgren, 89, of Hawarden died Wednesday, January 4, 1984 in a nursing home in Hawarden.

Services will be at 2 pm Saturday in the First Baptist Church in Hawarden. The Rev. Lee Christopherson will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 pm Friday in the Dow Funeral Home.

Mr. Lindgren was born June 8, 1894, in Smaland Province in Sweden. He came to the United States and to the Kiron area at the age of 21. He later moved to the Alcester, SD and Hawarden areas at which time he worked for the railroad. He married Johanna Jensen June 24, 1930, in Alcester. They farmed in the Hawarden area, retiring to town in 1973. She died November 25, 1977.

Mr. Lindgren was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. James (Patricia) Dunnam and Mrs. Larry (Peggy) Nilson, both of Hawarden and Mrs. Bruce (Pauline) Popken of Elma; one son, Paul of Alcester; three brothers, Severin, Sture and Justa and one sister, Vega Nordt, all in Sweden; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
