Carrol Hamilton, 85, of Hawarden died Saturday, March 21, 1992, at the Hawarden Community hospital of a long illness.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden, with Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden under direction of Porter-Dow, funeral home in Hawarden.

Mr. Hamilton was born Aug. 9, 1906, in Union County, S.D., son of Richard and Mae (Barrington)Hamilton. As a youth, he was a member of the United Brethern church. He received his education in Union county. He married Laura Zachow Aug. 8, 1927 in Elk Point. The couple farmed west of Akron in Union county until 1945, when they moved to their present farm north of Hawarden. Mr. Hamilton was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of Hawarden; six sons and their wives, Delbert and Leora of Sioux Falls, Wayne and Lorraine of Alcester, S.D., Elvin and Joyce of Fort Worth, Texas, Jack and Doris of Sioux Falls, Richard and Janice of Hudson, S.D. and Buck and Pat of Hawarden; a daughter and her husband, Angeline and Phjlig.Van Wyhe of Ireton; a sister, "Fern Skinner ofi Elk Point; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two granddaughters and a great-grandson.
