Floyd M. "Bud" Kemper, 51, of Ireton, died Friday, March 20, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital, due to cancer.

Services were Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton. Rev. Perry Schefelker officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton, under direction of Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Ireton.

Mr. Kemper was born June 18, 1940 at Ireton, son of Henry and Iva Mae (Taylor) Kemper. He graduated from the Hawarden High School" in 1957. He worked at Brown's Chevrolet in Hawarden, their in'1958 at Jack's Feed Store in Ireton. He served with the U.S. army during the Vietnam conflict. He was still working at the feed store, now known as 15 & S Feed_s, when illness forced him to retire in August 1991. He has been sports writer for the Ireton Examiner and the Hawarden Independent Newspaper for many years. He was also part-owner in the Ireton Examiner. He served on the Ireton city council for many years and was secretary for Pleasant Hill cemetery in Ireton. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and the Bertram American Legion post 276 in Ireton. He served with the West Sioux Educational Foundation, the Ireton Economic Development Committee, planning and zoning commission and the Ireton Fire board. He was a member, of Ireton's Historical Society, swimming pool steering committee, Booster Club and Softball Association. He was a member of the West Sioux Athletic Booster club and for many years kept score for the West Sioux baseball team. He was instrumental in founding the Ireton Pee Wee baseball tournament and co-founded the Little Falcon wrestling tournament.

Survivors include two brothers and their wives, William and Michele Kemper of Woodinville, Wash., and David and Diana Kemper of Sioux Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Mose (Marlys) Hendricks of Hawarden, Mrs. Vernold (Dorothy)
Olson of Akron, and Mrs. Merlyn (Charlene) Newman of Viroqua, Wis.; and eight nephews and six nieces.
