Irene M. Gacke, 94, of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, April 6, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Services were at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Donald R. Smith officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemtery.

She was born on August 16, 1899, in Larchwood, the daughter of Frank and Lena (Janssen) Weigman. She married August T. Gacke on January 13, 1920, in Larchwood. The couple farmed in the Larchwood and Alvord area until 1941 when they moved to a farm northwest of Rock Valley. He died July 15, 1968, and she remained on the farm until moving to Valley Manor in Rock Valley in the summer of 1991.

Survivors are three sons, Joe Gacke of Rock Valley, Vincent Gacke and his wife, Bonnie, of Larchwood and Cletus Gacke and his wife, Lorraine, of Inwood; three daughters, Mary and her husband, Merle Cunningham, of Sioux Falls, Esther McParland of Boulder, Colorado, and Barbara and her husband, Jerald Leighton, of Sacramento, California; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Kraft, of Huntington Beach, California.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ethel Gacke; a son, Bernard Gacke, and a son-in-law Merle McParland.
