Lonny Dean DeRaad, 51, of rural Hudson, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1992, at his residence as the result of a farm accident.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Community Reformed church in Hawarden, with Rev. Ralph Van Rheenen officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, Iowa, under the Porter-Dow funeral home in Hawarden.

Mr. DeRaad was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Hudson, the son of Art and Laura (Jahde) DeRaad. He attended rural grade school and graduated from Hudson high school in 1958. He served with the navy from 1958 to 1961, having been stationed in Guam. He attended Sioux Empire college in Hawarden following the service and later began He married Helen Schollerman in 1965. He later married Frankey Van Pelt May 24, 1980, in Orange City. Iowa. The couple farmed near Hudson. He had been employed at the Wells Dairy in Le Mars, the last five years.

Mr. DeRaad was a member of the Community Reformed church, where he was active in the Men's Brotherhood and served as youth sponsor of the RCYF for one year.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Neal and his wife, Brenda, of Hawarden and Michael James DeRaad at home; a daughter, Gina Ver Mulm, of Hawarden; two stepdaughters, Shelly Vonk and her husband, Mike, of Doon, Iowa, and Kristi Pies and her husband, Tim, of Hawarden; two grandchildren, Daniel and Thomas Ver Mulm, both of Hudson; his maternal stepmother, Josie DeRaad, of Chatsworth, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Bud (Elnora) Erickson, of Snohomish, Wash.; two nephews; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two and Ervin.
