Arthur E. Kallsen

Arthur E. Kallsen, 74, of Hawarden, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial service was held Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawarden, with Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, under direction of the Porter-Dow Funeral Home.

Mr. Kallsen was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Ocheyedan, son of Ewalt and Henrietta (Joens) Kallsen. He graduated from Ocheyedan High School in 1936, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Irene Stowe April 6, 1942, in Yuma, Ariz. They lived in the Hawarden area, where he was a construction superintendent. Mrs. Kallsen died Oct. 4, 1987. Mr. Kallsen retired in 1991.

Survivors include six sons and four daughters-in-law, Dennis of Tinley Park, Ill,; Steve and Ann of Bloomington, Minn.; Jeff and Pam, Mike and Terri, all of Hawarden, David of Eagan, Minn.; and Kevin and Jodi of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Sharon and Terry Mayne of Peoria, Ariz.; four brothers, Martin of Worthington, Minn.; Paul of Hastings, Minn.; AI of Las Vegas and Clarence of Spirit Lake, Iowa; five sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) King of Mankato, Minn.; Mrs. Howard (Esther) Ehlert of Dexter. N.M.; Mrs. Arlyn (Betty) Kriegel of Las Cruces, N.M.; Mrs. Daryl (Geraldine) Hattendorf of Scott City, Kan.; and Mrs. Carl (Joann) Bussler of Omaha; and 12 grandchildren.
