Nellie Vande Zandschulp, 74, of Orange City died Thursday, January 27, at her home after a long illness. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, January 31, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Robert Holwerda officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The former Nellie Vande Griend was born May 30, 1919, at Orange City, the daughter of Marinus and Jennie (Rens) Vande Griend. She lived all her life on a farm in Holland Township. She married Henry Vande Zandschulp January 30, 1946, at Orange City. She worked at the Orange City Municipal Hospital for 10 years as a cook and at River Valley as a foster grandparent for seven years.

She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed needlepoint, crochet, reading, gardening and walking.

Survivors include five sons and two daughters and their spouses, Conrad and Stephanie of Cedar Rapids, Marvin and Nancy of Sioux Center, Mrs. Darrel (Marlene) Kooi of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Harland and Judy of Sioux City, Jeris and Carla of Sioux Center, James and Patricia of Orange City, and Mrs. Hank (Janice) Hight of Elmira, New York; a sister, Jeanette Vanden Hul; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
