Gerrit Van Klompenburg, 78, died Wednesday in the Orange City Hospital following a lingering illness.
He was born August 14, 1902, at Orange City, the son of John and Dirkje (Mulder) Van Klompenburg. He was married to Bertha De Jong October 20, 1927, at Orange City. He had been employed at Cambier Motors at Orange City for 18 years and opened his own automotive repair and gasoline service station in 1947. He spent the last four years at the Heritage House.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include: the widow; two sons, Merle of Orange City and Norman of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren; three brothers, Henry, Bill, and Dick, all of Orange City; a sister, Miss Rena of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by a son Rodney, three brothers and a sister.
