Jurrian, who was known as "Jerry", was the son of Dick and Gertrude (Korver) Reinsma. He was raised at Orange City. As an adult, he first lived and worked in Hospers. He then served in the United States Army. On August 24, 1943, he married Sarah Ann ‘Dolly" Wiersma at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where Jerry was employed by the Farmers Cooperative Elevator for 36 years. In December of 1976, he retired as mill foreman. In
retirement, he assisted his wife in operating Dolly and Jerry’s Coffee Shop in Orange City.
Mr. Reinsma was a member of the Redeemer Alliance Reformed Church. He enjoyed singing in mens groups for residents of nursing homes in Orange City.
Survivors include his wife; four children and their spouses, Lyla and Richard Vande Hoek of Sanborn; Larry and Audrey Reinsma of Wheaton, Illinois: Lois and Frank Russell of LeMoore, CA; and Leann and John Biesecker of Minneapolis. MN: nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Duven and Jennie Bouma, both of Orange City: and a brother, John Reinsma of Woodland Park, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Sophie Reinsma, Martina Kreykes. Jeanette Docter, and Willemina Woudstra; and a brother, the Rev. William Reinsma.
