T. Vander Stoep died at his home in this city last Sunday night [March 24] after an illness of several months. Deceased was born in Klaaswaal Netherlands sixty-nine years ago. The family came to this country in 1883 and located on a farm a short distance west of this town [Orange City, apparently]. Here Mr. Vander Stoep resided until 1906 when he moved to Minnesota, returning after a two years' residence there.

Hofkamp of Lismore Minnesota, Floris who lives in the Netherlands, and Andries of Edgerton Minnesota. All of the children with the exception of the son in Holland came to attend the funeral which took place this Thursday afternoon, services being conducted in the First Reformed church by Rev. J. Engelsman.

The same issue says that Mr. and Mrs. R. Bos arrived from Monroe, S.D., in response to a message announcing the death of Mrs. Bos' father, T. Vander Stoep.

A brief news note on his death in the Sioux Center Nieuwsblad gives his full name, Teunis van der Stoep, and says that he was an uncle of A. van der Stoep, Mrs. Ellerbroek and Mrs. P. L. Schoep [they were the children of his brother Andries].

Information from the Genlias database: Teunis van der Stoep was born in Klaaswaal on 23 May 1842 to Fleuris van der Stoep and Trijntje Vos. At the age of 27 he married Jannigje Kramp, age 24, daughter of Peter Kramp and Johanna Koelewijn, in Maasdam on 2 October 1869.
