Leona Margaret was the daughter of Roney and Anna (Peters) Friedrich. She was raised in Nebraska. On September 8, 1939, she married Wilmer Wallace Vanness at Wausa, Nebraska. They farmed between Wausa and Bloomfield. They then lived in Loveland,
Colorado, for eight years. In 1972, they moved to Brunsville. Mr. Vanness passed away in January of 1977 at Akron.
On April 12, 1986, she married John A. Reekers at Brunsville. They made their home in Orange City.
Mrs. Reekers was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Roger Lowell Vanness of Ethan, South Dakota; Karen Lee Antisdel of Omaha, Nebraska; Eldon Dean Vanness of Omaha; and Gary Lynn Vanness of LeMars; nineteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verlyn Marie Vanness of Wausa.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, a grandson, and a brother, Lowell Nicholas Friedrich.
