Mr. Marion De Vries, 69, passed away Tuesday afternoon at a Sioux City hospital.
He was born August 11, 1917, at Orange City, the son of George and Jennie (Siebersma) De Vries. He married Ruby Hop March 22, 1945 in Orange City. She died June 26, 1985. He was a life-long resident of Orange City and owned and operated Orange City Plumbing for more than 35 years.
Mr. De Vries was a member of First Christian Reformed Church where he served as deacon and elder. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a POW for two years.
Survivors include two sons, Merlyn of Oklahoma City, Ok., and Gerald of Orange City; five brothers, Elmer, Frank and George Jr., of Orange City, Steve of Hull, Cornie of Alton; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Fedders and Mrs. Henry (Etta) Harmelink, both of Orange City, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby.
