Mr. Herman Dykstra was born November 25, 1899 in the Netherlands. He came to America at age 16 and settled in Orange City with his parents.
On September 10, 1927 he was united in marriage to Ada Mieras at Maurice. They lived in Orange City until 1974 when they moved to Hospers where they lived until October 1, 1985 when they moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City.
He is survived by his wife and one son George of Sioux City and one daughter Joan (Mrs. John Oldenkamp, Jr.) of Hospers. There are 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Three sisters preceded him.

Funeral services for Herman Dykstra, 85, formerly of Hospers, were held Oct. 12 at the First Reformed Church in Hospers. Pastor Carl De Jong officiated. Burial was at the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Pleog Funeral Home of Hospers. Mr. Dykstra died Oct. 10 at the Pioneer Memorial Home at Orange City.

Herman Dykstra was born Nov. 25, 1899 in the Netherlands. At the age of 16 he came to the United States and settled in Orange City with his parents. He was married to Ada Mieras Sept.10 1927 at Maurice. The couple lived at Orange City until moving to Hospers in 1974. They moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home at Orange City Oct. 1, 1985.

Surviving are his wife; a son, George of Sioux City; a daughter, Joan (Mrs. John) Oldenkamp Jr. of Hospers; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
