Loretto A. Lynott, 85, of Hawarden died Monday, Nov. 14, 1994, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden with Monsignor Michael Sernett officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. A prayer service was be [at?] 7:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a rosary, at St. Mary's parish hall.

Miss Lynott was born Dec. 10, 1908, in Hawarden, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Scanlan) Lynott, who were pioneer residents of Hawarden. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1928 and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She furthered her education at the University of Colorado in Boulder and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She taught rural school and at Chatsworth before teaching in Hawarden in 1938. She retired in 1974 after a 45 year career.

Miss Lynott was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Guild and a retired teachers group of Hawarden.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Father Alexander, John and Robert; three sisters, Mary McCarthy, Catherine Lynott and Anne Gehan, and five other siblings in childhood.
