Mrs. Gerrit Maassen, 70, of Rock Valley died April 29 in a Sioux Center hospital.

Services were held May 1 in the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley. The Rev. Wm. Suyker officiated. Burial took place in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Maassen, the former Winnie Hup, was born April 6, 1906 in the Netherlands. She came to America in 1918. She was married February 28, 1928 at Maurice, Iowa.

Survivors include the widower; a son, Gerrit of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Al (Reva) Van Den Berg of Rock Valley, Mrs. Gary (JoAnn) Van Beck of Inwood; a sister, Mrs. Bert (Effie) Fikse of Sioux Center; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
